Institutions and associations can support you to facilitate your career development in France.
A number of tools are also available to facilitate the professional mobility of scientists, as well as the career development of PhD students in the job market.

- EURAXESS PORTAL

The EURAXESS portal offers resources to support the careers of PhD students and researchers.

The Career Development section gives PhD students and researchers access to a “toolbox” to help them identify and achieve their professional goals (pages in English only)
- Doctoral School Service (SED) of the Université de Lyon

The SED has set up a range of service to help PhD students from member or associate institutions of the Université de Lyon in their career development:- Promoting research: PULSALYS

The Université de Lyon supports its researchers with the promotion of their research findings and their transfer to socio-economic sectors. This goal has been fulfilled by PULSALYS, the Technology Transfer Acceleration Company (SATT) in the Lyon Saint-Étienne region.

- Lyon Saint Etienne Entrepreneurship Center (CELSE)

CELSE is the PEPITE (Student hub for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship) of the Université de Lyon academic community (ComUE).
It aims to raise awareness of the entrepreneurial spirit, develop entrepreneurial skills, and offers support in setting up a company.

- La Fabrique de l'innovation

La Fabrique de l’Innovation harnesses the talents and creativity of students, the excellence of teaching and research staff and the technological platforms of all Université de Lyon institutions to develop innovative projects in partnership with companies, local authorities and innovation hubs, etc.

- Pôle emploi

At the end of your employment contract, if you stay in France and are looking for a job, you can register with Pôle Emploi (unemployment office).
You must have a valid residence permit to register and remain registered with Pôle emploi.

- APEC (Employment association for managers)

Free support for managers and young graduates to find work: workshops, job interview simulation, tool to personalize your resumé, etc.

- Association Bernard Gregory (ABG)

The Association Bernard Gregory (ABG) specializes in recruitment and career development for PhD students and researchers in the university sector and in private companies.


- Confédération des Jeunes Chercheurs

The Confédération des Jeunes Chercheurs (confederation of young researchers) aims to represent researchers at the start of their careers (PhD students and new doctors). Its website offers a number of resources and information.

- YOON

This association based in Lyon specializes in the career development of foreign nationals and offers support, advice and training for foreign nationals who are either employed or looking for work.

- DocPro

DocPro is a platform offering a reference database of doctors’ skills and experience. Each user can open a free account and create a profile describing their skills based on criteria recognized by companies.
Tool developed by the Association Bernard Gregory, University Presidents’ Conference (CPU) and MEDEF (French Business Confederation).

- PhDOOC

The PhDOOC association offers PhD students and researchers a MOOC designed to introduce career development tools and resources available online.

- Vita (website in English)

The EURAXESS Career Development Center for the United Kingdom, Vitae, offers a virtual resource center focusing on career development for researchers and PhD students.

- My IDP

My IDP offers free online exercises to help researchers identify their skills, interests and values. Articles and resources on career development are also available.

- OkayDoc

OkayDoc is a platform that puts researchers and companies in touch. Doctors can register and add their profile, making them more visible to companies.

- FUN MOOC

The platform currently has two MOOCs on career development and professional mobility, including one for foreign nationals.
