Supplementary Health Insurance
TAKING SUPPLEMENTERY HEALTH INSURANCE
It is optional, but we recommend that researchers benefiting from the French national healthcare system take out supplementary health cover ("mutuelle") to improve compensation for their medical expenses. The French social security scheme only partially covers healthcare costs. The remaining costs you incur can be relatively high depending on the care received (e.g. dental expenses, hospitalization, ophthalmologist, etc.).
Your employer may offer group supplementary insurance to their employees. Contact your employer for more information.
You may also be able to benefit from supplementary universal cover: Complémentaire santé solidaire. For more information, follow the online procedure.
If your employer does not offer health insurance, contact the insurance company of your choice.
Compensation rates offered by private insurance companies vary. Consider your needs and do not hesitate to compare offers to find the supplementary health insurance that best suits you.
