BREXIT information
The regulations governing the stay in France of British citizens and their families will change from January 1st 2021. The formalities to be completed are different depending on your personal situation.
Higher education institutions and research labs allowed to deliver hosting agreements and employing British researchers of PhD students now have to issue hosting agreements from January 1st 2021. A hosting agreement must be issued even if the contract started before this date.

I ARRIVE IN FRANCE AFTER JANUARY 1ST 2021
You must have a visa to enter on the French territory.
Scientists and their spouse
Scientists have to apply for a « Passeport talent-chercheur » visa at the French consulate of their place of residence. Your host institution in France has to deliver you a « Convention d’accueil ».
Spouses and children, whether Bristish or from a non-EU country, will have to apply for a « Passeport talent-famille » visa.

PhD students enrolled at a French higher education institution with a French employment contract
Scientists have to apply for a « Passeport talent-chercheur » visa at the French consulate of their place of residence. Your host institution in France has to deliver you a « Convention d’accueil ».

These students must apply for a « Etudiant » visa at the French consulate of their place of residence.

January 1st 2021 - General law applies to UK citizens not yet on the French territory
July 1st 2021 (at the latest) - Deadline to apply for the « ACCORD DE RETRAIT » residence permit application. Recommended to do it at the earliest
October 1st 2021 - Requirement for British citizens and their family members living in France prior to 31 December 2020, to hold a "ACCORD DE RETRAIT" residence permit.
